For thoese who don't have a home warranty, American Home Shield offers ProConnect; an on-demand service allowing homeowners to schedule maintenance request for home issues like appliance repair.
Yes! We don't care how old your home systems and appliances are. You can purchase an American Home Shield home warranty without an inspection or maintenance records.
To expedite service on your request, American Home Shield will assign a Pro to reach out to you as quickly as possible. In some cases, American Home Shield may offer you the ability to choose your own Pros, also known as Outside Authorizations. If you choose to use outside authorizations, the Pro must be licensed where applicable, qualified in the applicable state and trade, adequately insured for worker's compensation and third-party general, and have automobile liability coverage. The chosen Pro must provide a diagnosis and itemized bid to American Home Shield before any work is performed. American Home Shield will not reimburse you for services performed without prior authorization. You are responsible for paying the service Pro's charges and then must forward the invoice to American Home Shield for reimbursement less any applicable Service Fee or costs not covered by your home warranty.
Yes, if we can’t fix your covered appliance, we’ll replace it (for ShieldGold™ and ShieldPlatinum™ plans only, the ShieldSilver™ plan does not cover appliances). Plus, we’ll cover the cost to remove the defective appliance should a replacement be needed.
You'll pay a Service Fee (which you select when you purchase your home warranty) each time a Pro (plumber, electrician, HVAC technician) comes to your home to provide service. For example, when both your toilet and your air conditioner break down, two kinds of Pros need to come out to fix your problem. The plumber can't fix the A/C. However, if your toilet and your sink break down (which are both plumbing issues), only one trade Pro will come out and you'll only pay one fee (plus sales tax where applicable). If the appliances and systems in your home are older, you may want to select a lower Service Fee in case you end up using your plan more frequently. In a home with new systems and appliances, a higher Service Fee may be a better fit since you may not have as many service requests, but want the peace of mind of coverage.
No, we never limit the number of service requests you can make. With the ShieldGold™ plan, we will cover up to $2,000 for each covered appliance repair or replacement. And with the ShieldPlatinum™ plan, we will cover up to $4,000 for each covered appliance repair or replacement. See sample contract for full details.
American Home Shield® will pay up to $2,000 per covered appliance with the ShieldGold™ plan and up to $4,000 with the ShieldPlatinum™ plan for repair or replacement. We also cover multiples of each item – like that extra fridge!
Our standard contract term is 1 year and can be renewed upon expiration. When you purchase a new home warranty plan, there is a 30-day waiting period before you can make your first service request.

It was 100 degrees and my AC went out. Called AHS but the contractor couldn't come until the next day. I rented a motel room for the night and as I was getting ready to leave, the contractor called and said he could be there that night if I still wanted him to!!! I was soooo happy. Great service for homeowners! If you have a ton of cash ready for any home system that may fail at any moment then you are good. If you are like the other 90% of homeowners who don't, then do yourself a favor and protect your investment with an AHS home warranty. Seriously, a new HVAC in California costs over $4K. I paid $100. A new stove last year was $400, but I paid $75. It's in my budget and I don't think twice. AHS always takes great care of me.

I used AHS for the first time and what an easy process. I booked a service appointment online, paid the $100 service fee, and the repairman fixed the problem in less than 10 minutes. Our "trusted" AC tune up guys told us our unit was leaking refrigerant and needed a new coil unit.
