*American Home Shield air conditioning home warranty will cover up to $1,000 should the contractor need to cut through concrete to access any HVAC system components. Geothermal A/C systems also have a coverage limit of $1,500.

Yes, all three of our home warranty plans, ShieldSilver™ShieldGold™, and ShieldPlatinum™, include air conditioner repairs or replacement with a similar model (up to your plan's coverage limits and subject to limitations and exclusions of your contract. 

We cover all components and parts for covered HVAC systems up to $5,000 per system per Agreement Term, including ducted central electric split and package units, mini-splits, and ductwork. See the specific A/C coverage details on the page above. Also, please note additional limits may apply, such as a $1,500 coverage limit for Geothermal air conditioning systems. If the Covered Item can only be accessed through concrete (including cinderblock) wall, floor, or ceiling, American Home Shield air conditioner home service plan will only cover up to $1,000 for access and to return such opening to a rough finish. Our standard HVAC home warranty contract term is 1 year and can be renewed upon expiration. There is a 30-day waiting period before you can make service requests when you purchase a new home warranty plan 

Yes, all of our plans offer coverage for refrigerant. We cover up to $10/lb. with the ShieldSilver™ and ShieldGold™ plans and unlimited refrigerant at no additional charge with the ShieldPlatinum™ plan, which is a great budget protector since refrigerant is so expensive. 

If we can’t fix it, we’ll replace it and cover the cost of removing the defective HVAC system, subject to your plan’s limitations and exclusions.

The Service Fee varies depending on what you selected while purchasing your air conditioning home warranty. We give you the freedom to choose between lower Service Fees and lower HVAC warranty costs.

Homeowners insurance doesn't cover wear and tear on your air conditioning system. It only covers external events that might damage it.
